My name is Klyment Tan. Welcome to my website. All pieces currently on this website were taken within the last year with the equipment I own and use regularly.

My background in business and financial consulting, website and e-commerce development, as well as print media advertising has helped me amass potent weaponry for my creative arsenal. My inspiration comes from my experiences with my subjects and, in the case of commercial clients, an intimate understanding of their businesses and values. Though I look to the work of photographers I admire, I avoid shaping my work around a mould cast by their established styles. This approach has allowed me to develop my own style and works which, through their originality and uniqueness, are more powerful than if they were to have been created from inspiration from related work by others who are accomplished in their respective fields.

I am currently enrolled in a bachelor of commerce program of study at the University of Alberta and expect to complete my degree in April or May, whenever the end of the term and convocation happen to be. I'm still at the explorational stage of my photo career. I've found that I excel in the areas of event photography and creative lighting in studio. Recently, portraits have intrigued me and I've started spending more time working with models and performers to create strong character shots. However, all areas of photography are interlinked and require mastery of lighting and composure. Therefore, my growth in any single area will fuel the development of other areas.
