2005.12.16: I am a consumer whore (was "New Gear")

The spending never ends . . . just after picking up the D2X I thought that I had every piece of photographic hardware that I would need for the next year or two. I should have known better. Here's a list of what's heading my way over the next couple of days:

Balcar Iris 3200W/s head for Nexus
Nikon 10.5mm fisheye for DX form factor sensor (180degree full frame)
250W modeling lights for Balcar heads
Balcar 3200W/s heavy duty flash tube

In addition, Leanna purchased an antique replica asymmetric love seat for the studio. The piece is exquisite with�meticulously carved wood stained a rich deep red and the fabric has a white/beige paisley pattern. I've needed "real" shooting furniture (not this kind of furniture)�for the studio for a while and I've already found use for this piece in a shoot. I still have to Scotch Guard it and I have yet to sit on the chair.

I have decided against the purchase of the Jumbrella until summer and will be concentrating lighting expenditures on tighter lighting controls in the way of egg crates and possibly some smaller softboxes and a custom outer diffuser for one or both of my current Plume Wafer 140 softboxes. Tighter lighting controls will be from Lighttools.

And potentially defective . . . I heard that they have a high defect rate. Even the demo at McBain main squeels when the focusing ring is moved quickly. How are exams? Dong asked about you . . . wondering if you were still alive.

Totally still alive, finals are done. So this week is full production mode. Stay tuned, I'll be around tomorrow if you want to grab coffee, I gotta swing into ProData for a bit if you need anything.

I still can't figure out why you intend to get your business degree. I thought you were quit caffeine . . . or did you mean coffee like . . . "coffee"? =P Dong needs a 300gig pATA HD . . . if you get the chance, call or e-mail me their price for a 7200RPM non-Maxtor 300gig drive and I'll see if I can do better for him. If not, it's probably better for you to get it for him and he can pay you for it.
