Klyment, I need some advice on monitors. You use Dells, right? I need another monitor, and preferably one much better than my Samsung 204B piece of crap. Dell has some 22 inch models on sale next week, so I was thinking of picking one up.
Also, I picked up a D200 last week. It arrived by courier two hours after my new son, Spencer, came home from the hospital. Couldn't afford the D2xs yet. My photography partner is getting his tomorrow.
I don't know if I mentioned this to you, but I was awarded the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association 2006 Photographer of the Year. Cool, eh?

The current lineup of Dell displays is totally unusable for colour-critical work. I'd highly recommend an NEC LCD that comes with Spectraview II.
You haven't mentioned your award. Congratulations x 3 (award, camera, son . . . not necessarily in that order ). Take care, buddy.
Klement, After finding you on Nex, in the photography forum, I read through a page of your blog. I found it quite surprising that nearly all the photographers I find are doing some sort of wedding shot or another, is this the norm in the photography industry? Also wondering, your 23 now, when did you get started in being a photographer? You must have gone to school for it too with the quality you display, did you take a full Master in Fine Arts, or did you find that the bachelors was enough?
I'll leave you with those questions at the moment. I'm very much pushing my way, slowly, into the scene and every contact and every piece of advice, is very much appreciated.
Thank you
Jeff
Hello, Jeff. What's your Nexopia account name? There are wedding photographers and then there are photographers who shoot weddings. Wedding photographers tend to advertise themselves as such and most of their income is derived from wedding photography. Photographers who shoot other things will often shoot weddings as either a way to diversify their workloads or to pick up some extra money to supplement their primary income. I believe that wedding photography is one of the easiest types of photography to do at an acceptable level and it's likely the absolute easiest type of photography to market because the market is large and the product is easily tangible and prices are well-defined by a large group of wedding shooters who aren't competing for the same customers. Dong and I shoot a lot of weddings because they are referred to us. Neither of us have ever formally-advertised as wedding shooters but people keep referring and there are enough attractive and fun couples that we can't refuse. Photography and photographic printing have been my primary sources of income for the last two years. Hahah . . . I'm flattered by your question regarding formal education. I attended to the U of A and received a bachelor's degree in business. My only formal education in photography comes in the form of my attendance of Duane Franklin's excellent workshop on portrait lighting this past weekend. Anyhow, thanks for commenting. See you around soon.
