Gallery 2 upgrade: Failed

As some of you are aware, I used a beta version of an online, database-driven gallery framework named Gallery for my newest online gallery. The upgrade from my beta version of Gallery 2 to full Gallery 2 was less than seamless . . . however, this was to be expected. The installation documentation for my earlier version of Gallery 2 warned that the database schema from the beta version of Gallery 2 that I was installing then was likely to evolve into something very different even at later stages of beta. I may consider restoring Gallery 2 from a backup file later but I'll likely black hole it and officially blackhole the Yappa Next Generation gallery system as well and start fresh since Gallery 2 has now been fully released as version 2.0.

Heheh, yeah . . . it's good news for most people . . . not so great for me. =) But I'll take it as an opportunity to properly set up the gallery. Will be at the studio early this morning if you need anything. Got some paper coming in today and have to follow up with the Unisource person.

BTW, you don't have to anti-spam your e-mail address when you submit it - the blog system automatically does that for you. Plus if you leave your real address here, the blog can e-mail you back to notify you of changes or replies to your comment. =)

web galleries are just painful. There's no easy of fast way to do it. I had to rebuild mine once, it was like running in waist-deep mud... but they sure look good in the end after all that time...

You know . . . I saw the warning that the Gallery guys put out about the release that I was using regarding the drastic database schema changes that were going to take place and I thought I was just going to use it as a temporary gallery. But then I must have forgotton the warning and put a whole lot more stuff in there. I'm going to install Gallery 2 again from scratch. All of the photos are still on the server and just have to be reimported. Will take a couple of hours . . . I intend to import all of the stuff from http://klyment.com/yappa/yappa-ng/ as well.
